Central Connecticut State University’s athletic department announced its spectator policies for Jan. 6 and Jan. 8th on Wednesday.

In a press release from the school, the department stated “out of an abundance of caution and due to the rising positivity numbers throughout the state, CCSU will play its next two home basketball games on Jan. 6 and Jan. 8 without spectators, the school announced today.”

The following day, the Blue Devils canceled Thursday’s games. As of noon on Friday, Saturday’s contests are still scheduled and will remain without specators. CCSU men’s basketball will play Merrimack at 1 p.m. at home while the CCSU women will head to Merrimack for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday.

"We understand this will be frustrating for our fans who look forward to attending these games in person, especially after missing last season," Interim Director of Athletics Tom Pincince said.  "However, right now we believe this is in the best interest of our teams and our University.  We will continue to update everyone as we move forward."

Season ticket holders for both men and women’s basketball will be contacted directly by the athletic department regarding their season tickets. Any single game tickets that were purchased prior to the two scheduled games are going to be refunded to the purchasers.

A decision regarding the home events next week (Jan. 15 and Jan. 17) will be made in the coming days, according to the athletic department.
