Central Connecticut's women's basketball team had no answers for Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, falling in a 72-35 drubbing.
The closest the Blue Devil women had to gaining a lead was at 2-2, with under a minute gone by in the first quarter. Farleigh's 9-0 run across three minutes in the first was followed up by a quarter-closing 6-0 run to put the Knights ahead 21-10 through the first 10 minutes of action.
Another run, this time 9-0, by the Knights gave them a 32-11 lead with 3:47 to go before intermission. A pair of Claire Sutherland-Case free throws and a triple from Amaya Williams cut the score down slightly, but a Madison Stanley jumper before the halftime horn gave the Blue Knights a halftime deficit of 34-16.
Stanley led the Knights in scoring with 13 points, adding 11 rebounds to her night for a double-double.
The Knights opened up the second half with an 8-0 run to extend its gap further. A jumper from Ashley Berube snapped the streak, but FDU was still able to outscore CCSU 23-7 across the third quarter ro put the game well into blowout territory.
With the bench emptied, Central was still unable to gain ground on the deficit, losing the scoring battle in the fourth quarter 15-12.
Leading Central in scoring was Berube with 13 points, going 6 of 12 from the field. Sutherland-Case and Amaya Williams each had eight points with Eden Nibbelink leading the rebound battle for CCSU at five.
