To the Editor:
The House managers have made a compelling argument in Donald Trump’s impeachment trial. Trump’s use of incendiary language and violent imagery to willfully incite the deadly neo-Nazi mob of his minions to storm the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 and desecrate the citadel of democracy represents a stain on this country and a betrayal of his oath of office and of the American people.
Incitement of violence is not protected by the First Amendment. It is an assault on the First Amendment. America’s day of reckoning is nigh. Are we still the world’s North Star and a beacon to oppressed people, or are we Belarus or Myanmar or a banana republic? Are we going to uphold and protect the rule of law in the United States?
How the Senate votes in Trump’s impeachment trial will define the future of America going forward. Trump, a megalomaniac wannabe, is trying to lay waste to what America’s all about. He must finally be held accountable. If incitement of violent insurrection isn’t an impeachable offense, nothing is. Trump is guilty as charged.
Vote to convict.
