April 25, 2022 – Members of the Berlin Democratic Town Committee are urging all Berlin residents to cast a “Yes” vote in the April 26 referendum on the proposed budget for the proposed budget for the 2023 fiscal year. It presents a .38 Mil increase that addresses the importance of addressing essential services such as education and public safety. It is actually a decrease of the proposed 1.99 Mil increase as originally proposed for next year’s budget.

“We believe that the proposed budget best takes into account the needs of all Berlin residents and recommend that voters support it,” explains Kristin Campanelli, Berlin Democratic Town Committee Chairperson. “Although we would all like to see a zero increase as we have seen for the past two years, that would have negatively impacted town essential services, something we cannot afford to do. Therefore, we urge all Berlin voters – regardless of party affiliation, to vote “Yes” on Tuesday.

Voters will cast their ballots on the following:

Question 1. Shall the proposed general government budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year be adopted? Yes or No.

Advisory Question 1. If you voted no on the general government budget, is the budget…Too High. Too Low.

Question 2. Shall the proposed Board of Education budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year be adopted? Yes or No.

Advisory Question 2. If you voted no on the Board of Education Budget, is the budget….Too High. Too Low.

Polling places for Tuesday’s referendum are as follows:

District 1: Emma Hart Willard School 1088 Norton Rd., Kensington

District 2: VFW 152 Massirio Drive, Berlin

District 3: Richard D. Hubbard School 139 Grove Street, East Berlin

District 4: Berlin Senior Center 31 Colonial Dr., Kensington

District 5: Mary E. Griswold School 133 Heather Lane, Kensington

All Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
