EAST HARTFORD - The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology has announced the election of Rodney O. Powell to its Board of Directors. He is president of corporate citizenship for Eversource Energy.

At Eversource, Powell is primarily responsible for directing and managing the Eversource Energy Foundation and the company’s social responsibility programs. Before taking his current position, Powell was president of the Northeast Utilities Gas Business Unit, overseeing operations of the company, which delivers natural gas to about 200,000 customers in Connecticut, and 300,000 customers in Massachusetts.

Before the 2012 NU/NSTAR merger, Powell was president and chief operating officer of Yankee Gas Services Co. He also was president and chief operating officer of Western Massachusetts Electric Co.

Powell serves on the Board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Bushnell Center for Performing Arts and the Middlesex Chamber of Commerce. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Gas Association and former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Gas Association.

Commented CCAT Board Chairman Richard Baxter, “We are excited about having a person of Rod’s caliber join the CCAT board. We are confident that his executive leadership expertise in the energy sector and his depth of experience as a board member for both non-profit and for-profit organizations will contribute significantly to CCAT’s continued growth and success.”
