NEW BRITAIN - Kenny Jones not only provides expert and personal auto mechanic service with his longtime business The Automotive Connection, he believes in giving back to the community.

The Automotive Connection at 175 Newington Avenue is a full service auto shop that can see to maintenance and repairs for all types of American and European models.

While he does work on all types of cars including sport utility vehicles, Jones said he wanted to also specialize in European models because many car owners feel they have little choice but to get repairs and maintenance at a dealership.

The Automotive Connection is one of the few shops in the city that can repair all types of European cars from Volkswagons, Audis, BMWs, and Mini Coopers to Volvos. They are also a Bosch authorized service center.

The shop provides all routine maintenance and repairs for all types of vehicles including tuneups to oil, hose and filter changes to ignition, muffler, brake and suspension repairs.

Every vehicle is inspected for safety during an oil change, including the undercarriage of the car to check for damage done by salt and sand during the winter months.

They do all types of repairs including fixing electrical problems and dealing with warning lights and how to correct the problem, he said. “We are very strong in diagnosing those,” Jones said.

The shop provides scheduled maintenance and also accepts walk-in customers. Jones offers loaners when available and free rides to help customers pick up their vehicle when the work is complete.

The Automotive Connection also services small engine machines from lawn mowers to snowblowers to generators and boats. “There’s nowhere else left to do it,” Jones said. “We often get calls from customers asking, ‘Hey can you fix this?’ We can and we do all types of service and repairs.”

Jones, an avid water skier, also uses his love of the water sport to help the community. As an active member of the Rotary Club of New Britain- Berlin, Jones volunteers his time to raise money for worthy causes. For the past few years he’s combined his desire to support the community and his love of water skiing to host a water ski extravaganza with the help of the Rotary Club to raise money for local charities. The event draws water skiers from around the New England region.
