NEW BRITAIN - B&F Design Inc., a local manufacturer of engine assembly equipment, will be purchased by a company headquartered in India.
Cyient Limited announced in a press release Sunday that it had signed an agreement to acquire B&F Design.
“Cyient holds a leadership position in providing engineering services to the aerospace and defense market. This acquisition is a step toward enhancing our Build and Maintain offerings,” Anand Parameswaran, senior vice president for aerospace and defense, said in the announcement. “Through this acquisition, we are better positioned to provide increased value to our customers by undertaking more comprehensive work. We are confident that this acquisition will aid us in achieving our vision.”
According to the release, B&F Design employs about 47 people and has revenue between $8 million and $9 million.
Founded in 1965, B&F Design initially offered design services to local manufacturing companies and later expanded the business to include the manufacture of tools, and has built a reputation for its high-quality design and tooling capability.
Today, its area of expertise includes design and manufacturing of precision engine assembly equipment, repair tooling, machining of fixtures and gauges, and engine factory modernization services.
A representative of B&F Design said the sale was still in the preliminary stages and has not yet been finalized.
