NEWINGTON-State Rep. Gary Byron, R-Newington, recently visited PCX Aerostructures to learn more about the company and talk about the state’s economy and jobs.

“PCX Aerostructures is an innovative and unique business tucked into our little town of Newington. I was struck by their forward thinking, always looking for the next advancement in aerospace technology. Newington is lucky to have such a great community partner in PCX,” Byron said.

Earlier this year, Byron had a representative of PCX speak to his Business Advisory Council on the company’s experience in Newington.

PCX Aerostructures makes engineered, precision, flight-critical and structural assemblies for rotocraft and fixed wing aerospace platforms.

It serves defense and commercial markets as well as the power generation industry through facilities in Connecticut, New York and Texas.

Also on the tour was a member of the Business Advisory Council, Mike Hughes of Newington.

PCX Aerostructures employs 300 people, about 180 at the Newington facility.

During the walkthrough - led by PCX Sales Director Trevor Hartman; Marketing Manager Kathy Morin and General Manager, Aris Fotos - Byron was told that increased business this year will allow for significant hiring over the next six months.

PCX is looking to recruit local workers and has contacted area colleges and universities about internships.

The company was founded 116 years ago and has been in Newington since the 1950s.
