NEW BRITAIN – For more than six decades, the general practice law firm of Januszewski, McQuillan, & DeNigris has been helping members of the greater New Britain community with their legal needs.

Those needs range from wills and estates to automobile accidents, slip-and-falls and probate matters.

Whether you’re looking for representation for personal injury, or wrongful death claims, or matters of probate, real estate, family law, criminal defense, or business law, Januszewski, McQuillan, & DeNigris is able to provide its clients with personalized service and years of expertise, says partner Nicholas DeNigris.

“What we do, I think, is give excellent personal service,” he said. “We’re always there for our clients.”

Born and raised in New Britain, DeNigris left Connecticut to attend Clark University in Worcester, Mass., before returning to his home state to attend law school at the University of Connecticut. DeNigris ultimately settled in his home city and joined the firm over 50 years ago, in 1964. For several years, DeNigris practiced alongside the firm’s founder, the late Judge Roman Lexton, before Lexton took the bench, he said. In more recent years, DeNigris was joined by law partners Martin McQuillan and John Matulis, Jr.

McQuillan specializes in the areas of personal injury, criminal law, worker’s compensation law, and Social Security Disability law, while Matulis focuses in civil and probate litigation, professional malpractice, family law and real estate, according to the firm’s website, www.jmdnbct.net .

All three attorneys also volunteer their time to various nonprofit and charitable organizations, which has allowed them to meet people “from all walks of life” and get to know the needs of the community, DeNigris says.

DeNigris served on the New Britain Board of Education from 1963 to 1967, and from 1971 to 1975. He also served as the president of the Boys & Girls Club from 1999 to 2002, he said, and is a New Britain-Berlin YMCA trustee.

Matulis was a former president of the Hartford County Bar Association, a former director of Central Connecticut Health Alliance, Inc and a former member of the Statewide Grievance Committee, which regulates lawyer conduct. He also hosts a weekly radio show, “Law Talk,” on WTIC News Talk 1080.

McQuillan served from 2001 to 2008 on the board of directors at the YMCA and has coached in the Berlin Youth Soccer Association.

“We’re very, very involved in the community,” said DeNigris.

Along with various other awards, DeNigris was named “Man of the Year” by the Order Sons of Italy in America in 2005 and was inducted in to the Immigrant Heritage Hall of Fame last year during a ceremony at Central Connecticut State University.

DeNigris’ parents were born in the coastal city of Bari, Italy, he said, and, over the years, DeNigris has cultivated a relationship with the area’s Italian community. According to the law firm’s website, jmdnbct.net, the firm offers consultations in Italian. Free personal injury consultations are also offered.
