Grand opening today for new gift shop at HSC

NEW BRITAIN - A ribbon cutting ceremony at noon today will mark the official grand opening of Good Cause Gifts, a new gift shop at the Hospital for Special Care.

Mayor Erin Stewart, Economic Development Director Bill Carroll and Lynn Ricci, president and CEO of HSC, will be present, as will representatives of Good Cause Gifts,

Good Cause Gifts, a division of Futures Inc., is dedicated to helping disabled people live fully integrated lives by offering employment opportunities and social activities.

The shop, which is open to the public, features fine gifts, accessories and unique artisan merchandise. Good Cause Gifts also operates a store at 384 Main St. in Berlin.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Good Cause Gifts to the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain,” said Mayor Stewart.

She added, “This store will provide another opportunity for individuals to purchase unique gifts and merchandise, all while supporting a wonderful mission.”

HSC is the fourth largest, free-standing long-term acute care hospital in the U.S. and the only one in the nation serving adults and children.

HSC is recognized for advanced care and rehabilitation in pulmonary care, acquired brain injury, medically-complex pediatrics, neuromuscular disorders including ALS research, spinal cord injury, comprehensive heart failure and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient treatment for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder.
