Good Cause Gifts takes over gift shop at Hospital for Special Care

NEW BRITAIN-Many people gathered at Hospital for Special Care on Wednesday to celebrate the grand opening of Good Cause Gifts second location as well as get a head start on their holiday shopping.

Hospital for Special Care has partnered with the retail store based in Berlin, Good Cause Gifts, to run a new gift shop.

The store sells everything imaginable for even the pickiest to shop for. From women’s apparel to accessories like jewelry, handbags, scarf and gloves to even socks and slippers. There’s holiday décor and signs that sport inspirational sayings as well as figurines and glassware. Shoppers can also find cards and stationary, mugs, decorative pillows, beer and wine accessories, children’s toys and books and so much more.

Good Cause Gifts is a division of Futures, Inc. and is dedicated to creating and sustaining innovative jobs at competitive wages for individuals with disabilities.

Through partnerships with non-profit and for-profit organizations, Good Cause Gifts contribute to local charities and raise awareness about the value of employing individuals with disabilities.

In 2012 Hospital for Special care opened the Autism Center to provide a number of resources for autistic youths in Connecticut. With the new partnership with Good Cause Gifts, there’s potential for young adults with autism who graduate from the program to gain employment said Wendy DeAngelo, , vice president of development and communications at HSC.

Good Cause Gifts at Hospital for Special Care is open to the public. Holiday hours are Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 12-3 p.m.
