NEW BRITAIN - Dattco was recently awarded the International Motorcoach Group’s Safety Award for having the highest level of safety throughout the organization, the company announced Tuesday.

“We are proud to have received the IMG Safety Award. Dattco has an uncompromising commitment to high standards when it comes to motorcoach safety, maintenance, customer service, driver training, equipment, operations and on-road support,” said Donald DeVivo, president of Dattco.

Nominees are chosen by IMG shareholders based on a review of Department of Transportation, insurance and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration records.

Winners not only meet maximum federal, state and local regulations, but go above and beyond implementing company safety measures that ensure their employees and customers experience the safest work and transportation conditions possible.

Dattco is a founding member of the International Motorcoach Group, which formed in 1998.

IMG is an invitation-only organization made up of 56 independent North American charter bus operators.

“We are very proud to honor a company with a long history as a shareholder of IMG. Dattco’s leadership and management have had active involvement in the growth of IMG’s commitment to safety and the industry’s commitment through their active role in American Bus Association’s Bus Industry Safety Council,” said Real Boissonneault, IMG’s chairman of the board and president of Quebec’s Autocar Excellence.

Dattco has been represented on the Bus Industry Safety Council since 1992.

The mission of the council is to continually raise the level of safety in the intercity bus and motorcoach industry through collaborative efforts of professionals.

“We have a robust safety program at Dattco, which includes asking all employees to take the ‘Safety Starts with Me’ pledge,” said Pamela Martinez, vice president of human resources and risk management.

“Our employees are very committed to this pledge and put safety before everything else in their daily job duties. This is evidenced by our stellar safety record that has continued to improve since the pledge was put in place a few years ago. We thank our employees for helping us attain this recognition from IMG.”
