NEW BRITAIN - City officials welcomed a new restaurant to Main Street Tuesday afternoon during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for KC’s on Main.

“Here’s to lasting success,” Mayor Erin Stewart said before cutting the ribbon along with owner Keith Selander.

KC’s, at 2 Main St., serves a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, seafood and other items.

Selander said he wanted to offer the area a different food option.

“In New Britain there is a lot of Latin, a lot of fast food, a lot of pizza places,” Selander said.

Selander said the reception for the restaurant has been warm, and his wings have been especially popular. The restaurant features homemade, fresh food, Selander said.

KC’s on Main is the second restaurant to try 2 Main St. since Café Beauregard closed in February 2017 after more than three years in business. Hardware City Café opened a few months later but shut down in September 2017.

Selander has rearranged the storefront, adding more open space. He said he hopes to bring good food to the city.

“I just love to cook, that’s it,” Selander said. “It’s my passion.”

KC’s on Main is open 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
