NEW BRITAIN - Think choosing where to eat is tough? Imagine having to choose between four of the country’s best universities before making a college decision.

That is currently what New Britain High School student Saimun Habib is going through. Habib, the school’s valedictorian, has been accepted to Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and Yale. All four schools offered Habib placement in their incoming freshmen classes.

According to a press release from the school district, Habib aspires to become an engineer and has studied the sciences extensively at NBHS. While attending high school, Habib completed Advancement Placement level coursework in a variety of subjects, including physics, chemistry, calculus, and English literature.

He is a team captain on the NBHS Robotics Team - which is currently ranked in the top 20 percent in the world - and was recently ranked among the top 30 finalists in the statewide Chemistry Olympiad Competition.

Habib has narrowed down his decision to two schools: the student will study chemical or biochemical engineering at either Harvard of Princeton.

“I can’t say enough about Mr. Habib,” said NBHS Principal Joseph Pinchera in a press release. “His academic record speaks for itself. He is a great young man who cares about people. I personally enjoy his humorous approach in everything he does. There is no question that Saimun Habib is a game changer. His future is beyond bright!”
