NEW BRITAIN - Pool season in the city will go out with a splash this weekend when the Parks and Recreation Department hosts its first Paws in the Pool at the A.W. Stanley Park pool.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, marks the last day residents will be able to swim in the city’s pools this year. Sunday’s event offers something extra as, for $5, residents can swim with their dogs.

Owners must provide proof of current vaccination and a dog license and must accompany their dogs.

When not swimming, dogs must remain on a leash.

No puppies under 6 months old can participate.

Money raised will be donated to the New Britain Commission on Animal Welfare and go toward spaying and neutering animals in the city.
