NEW BRITAIN - In addition to mayor and Common Council, residents voted for five Board of Education members, a city clerk, a tax collector, a treasurer, three members of the Board of Assessment Appeals and eight constables.
On the Board of Education, Republican incumbent Nick Mercier and Democratic incumbent Daisy Sanchez won re-election. Republican Nancy Rodriguez and Democrats Violet Sims and Annie S. Parker, all newcomers, will join the incumbents on the Board of Education.
Mallory Deprey, a Democratic incumbent endorsed by Republicans, was not re-elected.
Mark Bernacki, a Republican incumbent endorsed by both parties, won his race for city clerk unopposed.
For tax collector, Republican incumbent Cheryl Blogoslawski beat Democrat Lanette Spranzo-Macaruso.
For treasurer, Democrat Ron Jakubowski defeated Republican incumbent Mark DeGrandis.
For Board of Assessment Appeals, Republican incumbent Todd Cheney will join newcomer Democrats Wyatt Bosworth and Georgette Cicero.
Alan Zaniewski, Richard Moreno, Sean Steele and Tom Talalaj were elected Republican constables while Peter Spano, Thomas Shields, Wilfredo Justiniano and Patrice Smith were elected Democratic constables.
