NEW BRITAIN – Stanley Quarter Skate Park is set to reopen today after about eight weeks of renovations and repairs.

In September, the Common Council approved a purchase order for $72,000 to Rampage Sports, LLC of Bridgeport to perform extensive work to make the skate park more free-flowing and accessible for extreme sports athletes. According to the city, all architectural and engineering design work has been completed by TO Design of New Britain in conjunction with independent contractor and skateboard enthusiast Jeff Paproki.

Some of the renovations to the park include expanding the upper footprint of the park, removal of cracked asphalt and replacement with concrete, as well as six new skate features designed to be placed strategically throughout the upper portion of the park. Skaters, rollerbladers, and bikers alike should be able to navigate the renovated skate park freely and continuously with this design.

The ribbon cutting for Stanley Quarter Skate Park will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2. Stanley Quarter Park is located at 451 Blake Road.
