Hospital for Special Care to award 8 scholarships

NEW BRITAIN - The Hospital for Special Care is seeking applicants in the area for eight scholarships in three health care disciplines.

Students pursuing undergraduate degrees in medicine, nursing and physical therapy as well as medical students are eligible to apply. Students in a physical therapy assistant program will not be considered.

The scholarships are: the Florence Timura Medical Student Scholarship, Florence Timura Physical Therapy Scholarship, Rona Botwinick Nursing Scholarship, Florence Timura Nursing Scholarship, Dr. Michael Timura III Nursing Scholarship, Paul Sutula Nursing Scholarship, Elizabeth Timura Gold Star Mother Nursing Scholarship and John Timura Nursing Scholarship.

Applications for the nursing scholarships will be sent by e-mail to schools in Greater New Britain, including New Britain, Berlin, Farmington, Plainville, Newington and Southington.

Applications for the medical student scholarship will be e-mailed to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, Quinnipiac University and the Yale School of Medicine.

Applications for the physical therapy scholarship will be e-mailed to the University of Connecticut, University of Hartford, Sacred Heart University and Quinnipiac University.

The applications are also available on the Hospital for Special Care website at hfsc.org/careers/HSC-Scholarship-Program.

All applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 6. The amount is specified on the application. Scholarship winners will be notified in June.
