SOUTHINGTON - A man already in custody has been arrested on an outstanding warrant for alleged credit card theft and purchases made in September.

Kyle McFarlin, 57, was charged with fifth-degree larceny, illegal use of a credit card, receipt of items from illegal use of a credit card on May 3 in Bristol Superior Court. At the time of his arrest, he was being held in a state correctional facility.

According to Police Lt. Stephen Elliot, McFarlin stole a wallet fron an employee’s purse while she was working at a local medical facility.

McFarlin then used the credit cards in the wallet to make purchases in the amount of about $400 each at Macy’s and Michael Kors, both at the Westfarms mall in West Hartford, Elliot said.

The cards were also used to make a purchase of $45 at a Shell gas station in that area.

Collaboration with New Britain and Farmington police departments led to development of McFarlin as a suspect, Elliot said.

McFarlin is due in court May 24 with bond at $50,000 for this case.

He has not been released from custody.
