NEW BRITAIN – Before fireworks bring this year’s Main Street U.S.A. to a close, resident Curley Jones will perform his new city jingle live.

Jones was named the winner of the city’s jingle contest earlier Tuesday. The Gospel singer will perform his song around 8:40 p.m., five minutes before the fireworks show.

“My song is aimed at helping to highlight, promote, and visualize to residents and visitors the many unique offerings that we have right here in New Britain,” Jones said.

His song references the New Britain Bees, breweries and the city’s emphasis on the performing arts, among other things. In his video accompanying the jingle, Jones drives by Capitol Lunch and Little Poland on his tour of the city.

“Come on out, experience the new, in New Britain, in New Britain,” Jones sings on the chorus of his jingle.

Mayor Erin Stewart and the city’s Marketing Committee started the contest in May with the intention of using the jingle for the city’s “Experience the New” marketing campaign, which launched in January 2017. According to city officials, the jingle will be used to help market the New Britain in the coming months through new promotional videos on social media and other platforms.
