BRISTOL - Area bands are ready to rock during the “Rock 4 Vets” event.
The concert, presented by The Bristol Blues and BigMac Productions, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Muzzy Field. The all-ages show will include food, fun, a variety of vendors and several live music acts.
A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Veterans Affairs in Rocky Hill and there will also be food collected for the Brian’s Angel’s Outreach Shelter.
Chris Saunders, play-by-play broadcaster and media relations with The Bristol Blues, said that there will be “quite a few” food trucks with lots of different options as well as a kids’ activity area with “lots of stuff for the youngsters and those wanting to re-live their childhood.” Vendors will consist of local organizations and crafters.
“We wanted to give back to the Bristol community,” said Saunders. “This has been a very successful year for the Bristol Blues. We also wanted to give back to our veterans and support the people that helped us.”
Those who attend are also encouraged to bring a pop top can of food for Brian’s Angels.
Participating performers include Completely Unchained, performing the music of Van Halen, Physical Graffiti, performing the music of Led Zeppelin, Feels like the First Time, playing the music of Foreigner, A Tribute to Black Sabbath, Screamin Eagle Band, Sabotage, Straight Shooter, Dangerous Animals, LB3 and Righteous Continental.
Saunders said that Brian Rooney, general manager and sponsorship coordinator, worked hard to create a line-up that the whole community could enjoy.
“I think there will be something for everyone to connect to,” he said. “I’m 26 and there will be music for people my age and in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
Brian wanted this to not just be for one group of people - but something for the entire community to enjoy. It’s going to be one big party.”
Saunders encouraged people to come down to Muzzy Field and enjoy the festivities while supporting good causes.
“If you’re looking for a fun time and what to see what the Bristol community is all about and what the Bristol Blues represents, then this is going to be something you want to seem,” he said.
Tickets are $30 and are available through the bands’ ticket office and online at the Bristol Blues box office. For more information, visit bristolbluesbaseball.com or call 860-582-2583.
