BRISTOL â€“ As part of the Main Street Pint and Plate â€śWigs and Wafflesâ€ť drag show brunch series, performers will be returning February 13, just before Valentineâ€™s Day, in its â€śShare the Loveâ€ť event.
â€śWe figured since it's a brunch weâ€™re doing, we wanted to collect canned goods or nonperishable food to donate to food banks,â€ť said Main Street Pint and Plate General Manager Jen Duquette. â€śWe know they get inundated with food and everyone wants to donate around the holidays, Christmas and Thanksgiving. That kind of goes away and the food banks get cleared out.â€ť
â€śQueensâ€ť Summer Orlando, Barbra Streetsand and Chastity Singer put on their talents at the restaurant with doors opening at 1 p.m. and with a ticket comes a complimentary bloody mary or mimosa (for those of legal age). There will be around four or five brunch items available on the menu. Orders are placed with a server and the show gets underway.
Tony DiPietro and Allen Stone are both originally of Bristol and perform as Barbra Streetsand and Chastity Singer, respectively.
Previous shows saw the trio moving and interacting with the crowd while also refilling coffee as part of the interactive experience.. Every show is themed. Previous shows have raised money for the Bristol Hospital Emergency Fund, among others.
The manager said show organizers wanted to focus on giving and raising awareness in a month thatâ€™s not as traditionally associated as a time of giving. Duquette said the performers used to put on shows at the Delish Lounge. Once it closed, Main Street Pint and Plate established a relationship with them.
â€śThey sell out all shows they do and perform all over so we definitely wanted to get them on board with us,â€ť she said. â€śWe will continue to do shows quarterly.â€ť
Duquette noted that donations are important to the event and any individual that brings one in will be entered into a prize drawing.
