After a scoreless first half against Northwest Catholic on Friday night, things fell apart quickly for the Plainville High football team in the second half.

The Lions’ Paris Carpenter returned the second half kickoff 60 yards for the first touchdown of the game and Northwest Catholic went on to win 37-0.

A Spencer Merkel 1-yard TD run made it 13-0 with 7:41 left in the third quarter, and he made another TD run with 7:56 to go in the fourth, adding a two-point conversion himself for a 21-0 lead.

Carpenter rushed for his second TD of the game to make it 29-0 with 2:47 to play, then Isaac Riley ran back a fumble recovery for the final touchdown of the game with less than two minutes to play.
