Sports Roundup: Innovation girls volleyball returns to CRAL Championship game with win over Public Safety

NEW BRITAIN - The Innovation girls volleyball team is heading to the CRAL Championship game once again.

The Ravens swept Public Safety 3-0 (25-5, 25-13, 25-10) in the semifinal Tuesday night to secure its fourth consecutive trip to the league title game.

Innovation got plenty of strong performances.

Danelys Baez-Arroyo recorded four kills and seven aces; Bailee Nardi ended with six kills and five aces; and Morgan Sartor finished with five kills and 11 aces.

The Ravens are now 18-3 and will play for the title on Thursday.

Goodwin Tech 3, Whitney Tech 1: In the CTC quarter final, the Gladiators came to play.

Behind strong outings from Leina Rivera (14 service points, six assists, 16 kills, four assists, nine digs) and Tiana Rodriguez (16 service points, eight aces, 32 assists) Goodwin Tech won in four sets with scores of 25-15, 25-15, 26-28 and 25-14.

In the first set Soannie Arroyo served well for the Gladiators to take the lead.

The third set was a challenge for Goodwin Tech as the Gladiators committed too many unforced errors and dropped their first set of the match.

Going into the fourth set, Goodwin Tech stayed composed and won to advance to the semi-finals.

With the win the Gladiators moved to 17-4 on the season while Whitney Tech fell to 14-7.
