HARTFORD - After four years at the Sport and Medical Sciences Academy, Rainne Mayer knows where she will be competing at the collegiate level.

The Berlin native signed with Division II Post University Wednesday afternoon to play softball and major in Emergency Management/Homeland Security.

“I'm really happy and excited to be going to Post," Mayer said. "I like the campus and the coach and I'm glad it's close enough my family can come see me play. They also play at a very competitive level. I can't wait to go but now that I've signed, I'm going to enjoy my senior year and try to help SMSA sports go to another level.”

A varsity player since her freshman year, Mayer has been named to the All-NCCC team and been a team captain the last two seasons and holds the school record for the most hits in a season with 139.

But Mayer has excelled in other sports at well. She is a two-time captain and four-year letter winner for the volleyball team and a three-time letter winner in basketball. Mayer earned all-conference honors in volleyball this season.
