NEW BRITAIN - Stanley Black & Decker has made the commitment to be the presenting sponsor of the Travelers Championship for the next seven years.
The partnership starts with this year’s tournament, which will take place June 18-24 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell.
Stanley Black and Decker will concentrate on making sure fans enjoy the tournament experience to the fullest. At the championship, there will be a Stanley Black & Decker fan zone that will feature additional seating, mobile device charging stations, free Wi-Fi, a fan zone expo, and upgraded restrooms.
“We are excited about the opportunity to play a larger role in one of Connecticut’s premier, world-class events,” said Don Allan, chief financial officer at Stanley Black & Decker Inc. “We believe that in order to succeed in this new era of accelerating change and societal challenges, companies need to take a broader role in society and create value beyond profits, to generate a positive impact for shareholders, the environment and society.”
The championship will also feature Stanley Black & Decker chill zones that will have cooling benches located throughout the course.
“Stanley Black & Decker’s commitment to be our second presenting sponsor is a significant step forward for the tournament,” Travelers Championship tourn-ament director Nathan Grube said. “To have a Connecticut company with such a significant global footprint make a seven-year pledge to align with Travelers through 2024 sets the stage for a great future.”
Stanley Black & Decker, founded in 1843, and with its headquarters in New Britain, will have a lounge and viewing area along the 18th hole fairway that will be opened to all ticket holders.
Early player commitments to the Travelers Championship include defending champion Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Patrick Reed, Bubba Watson, Charley Hoffman and Jim Furyk, among others.
Travelers has been a corporate sponsor of the championship every year since it started in 1952.
