First four games in Little League Softball Eastern Regional feature three shutouts

BRISTOL - The Little League Softball Eastern Regional Tournament kicked off in Bristol with four games on Saturday.

Connecticut 2, New Jersey 1: Anna Gedacht started for Connecticut, allowing one run in a complete game performance. She gave up seven hits and struck out four batters.

The top of the batting order - Della Jackson, Elena Ohe and Chelsea Villar - had all five of Connecticut’s hits.

Jackson finished 2-for-3 with one run scored, Ohe went 1-for-2 with one run scored and Villar was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI.

Delaware 7, Maryland 0: Camryn Ehlers and Kinsley Hall combined for a one-hitter on the mound for Delaware.

Ehlers struck out nine in five innings and allowed the one hit. Hall pitched one scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout.

Delaware’s Laniya Lewis finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, Jaya Shub went 2-for-3 and Ehlers was 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Pennsylvania 5, Massachusetts 0: Kaya Hannon pitched six shutout innings of one-hit ball and recorded nine strikeouts.

Pennsylvania also had a strong offensive showing, with 10 different players recording hits.

Ella McNeff and Hannah James had multiple hits. McNeff finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. James went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored a run.

Pennsylvania will next face Connecticut on Monday at 4 p.m.

Rhode Island 17, Vermont 0: Every player except one in the Rhode Island lineup recorded hits in the opening game, cut to four innings via the mercy rule.

At the top of the batting order, Samantha Healy went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and drove in a pair, while Gabrielle Jeffrey finished 1-for-2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Hitting sixth in the batting order, Ava Santo went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
