BRISTOL - Rhode Island, New York and Maryland were all victorious in the first day of the Mid-Atlantic and New England Regional tournaments held in Bristol.
Rhode Island 10, Connecticut 0: Tommy Turner and the Rhode Island offense dominated Connecticut in the mercy-rule shortened game.
Turner went four perfect innings with six strikeouts. He also combined with Tyler Simon, Jake Mather and Logan Lama at the top of the order to produce six RBI, five hits and score eight of Rhode Island’s 10 runs in the game.
Rhode Island’s Dylan Mourao had the other hit, finishing 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI.
New York 10, Washington D.C. 2: New York showed off its deep lineup with eight different players picking up hits.
Steven Martinez, Derek Mendez, Chris Cancel and John Calabrese all had multi-hit games for New York.
New York’s Chris Bedford threw four scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Jibril Scott, Dejuan Taylor, Rocco Gilbert and Solomon McKinney each had hits for Washington D.C.
Maryland 6, Delaware 0: Maryland’s Stephen Wade threw a strong game on the mound pitching 4 2/3 innings with two hits allowed. Wade struck out 11 and added a hit at the plate.
Owen Knerr, Lukas Loring and Alex Navarro had the other hits for Maryland. Knerr had two RBI, while Loring and Navaro finished with one RBI.
Delaware got hits from Jase Mitchell and Frankie Fuscellaro.
