For the ShopRite Nutmeg State Games, the state of Connecticut is divided into four regions: North, South, East, and West.  An athlete’s residency determines what region he or she will be grouped into.  The various competitions will be hosted by the City of New Britain and throughout Central Connecticut in over twenty of the state’s top athletics facilities.

Team sports offered in the 2021 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games include baseball, basketball, fast-pitch softball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, roller hockey and soccer.  All team sport tournaments will be a round robin or pool play format, with a minimum guarantee of three or four games and the top teams will advance to medal round games.

The games also offer a diverse group of individual sports like fencing, figure skating, golf, gymnastics, pickleball, track and field and wrestling.  Individual sport competitions are held over a one or two day period.

The 2021 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games will be a qualifier for The 2022 State Games of America, hosted in Ames and Des Moines, Iowa. The 2022 State Games of America will be held July 27th through the 31st.
