Area golfers earn medals at Nutmeg State Games

NEW BRITAIN - Twenty-eight golfers competed in the Nutmeg State Games Golf Tournament at Stanley Golf Course on Sunday and a few local golfers walked off the links with medals.

Berlin's Elizabeth Dunn earned the gold medal in the 18 and under age-group in the 18-hole division, shooting a 91, while Brooke Zajac, of Southington, won the 16 and under age-group, carding a 84. Libby's sister, Samantha, placed second behind Zajac, finishing with a 88,

Plainville's Julia Smith grabbed silver as well in the under-18 match with a 103 after 18 holes.

The other winners in the 18-hole division included Jack Brewster (74, under-16) and Tony Facente (92, under-18).

In the nine-hole division, Selam Olson won the 14 and under age-group with a 48. Nandini Pagidi and Annelise Anderson finished with the silver and bronze, respectively.

Ryan Stoddard took gold in the 10 and under age-group with a 56, Brayden Grossman won the under-12 match with 47 and Jack DeJoseph was the low scorer in the 14 and under age-group with a 44.
