Team sports starting this week for Nutmeg State Games

The 32nd annual Nutmeg State Games will host its girls soccer tournament Thursday, kicking off with the 12U and 18U divisions at 5 p.m. at Willowbrook Park in New Britain.

Both divisions will resume action Friday at Sage Park in Berlin while the 14U division will play at Willowbrook Park for its first set of games.

Friday’s competition will also feature field hockey with the 15U intermediate division playing all games, including their bronze and gold medal rounds, at Veterans Stadium.

Saturday will feature field hockey, girls soccer, fast pitch softball and roller hockey. Field hockey’s 18U high school and 18U club divisions will play all games at Veterans Stadium, beginning at 8:30 a.m. They will end the day under the lights, following the day’s last game, at 8:45 p.m. at Veterans Stadium.

All girls soccer divisions will play Saturday with Willowbrook Park hosting the 12U division. Sage Park will be the location for the 14U and 18U teams.

Fast pitch softball’s 12U divisions will roll continuously from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Newington High School. Following the same time schedule at Chesley Park will be the 14U Division.

Roller hockey’s Open Gold and Open Silver divisions will play at Trinity College with Open Silver running from 10 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. and Open Gold following from 6 p.m. to 9:20 p.m.

The weekends action will conclude on Sunday, July 18 with bronze and gold medal games being played for all girls soccer divisions, roller hockey, fast pitch softball, field hockey 18U high school Div. II and the field hockey 19+ Open division.
