NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain girls volleyball team was in the first set and won the second set, but couldn’t hang on against Simsbury, losing 3-1 (25-22, 25-27, 25-11, 25-20).

New Britain was in the match throughout and had strong service, only committing four serving errors. It was a defensive battle throughout and an all around team effort for the Golden Hurricanes.

Sophomore Natalie Hernandez saw meaningful playing time off the bench and performed well enough to possibly see more time in the coming matches.

Raven Jarrett had eight kills, Sara Manuel passed well and Talia Marks was strong at the net.

New Britain will host Wilbur Cross on Friday.

Ellis Tech 7, Goodwin Tech 1: For Goodwin Tech, it was going to be a long day as Ellis Tech jumped out to a fast start.

With a halftime deficit of 4-1, the Gladiators couldn’t get back into the game.

Ellis Tech’s Chad Cramer was all over the field with five goals.

After the loss, Goodwin Tech has still yet to win a game.

The Gladiators will travel to 1-5-1 Norwich Tech on Friday.
