MERIDEN - The Goodwin Tech boys basketball team will have to wait until the Division IV state tournament starts to play its next game.

Despite a game-high 29 points from senior Francisco, the Gladiators fell to Wilcox Tech in the CTC semifinals 57-48 Wednesday night.

“I thought we played well,” Goodwin Tech head coach Reuben Charles said. “Coming down the stretch we made a few mistakes that cost us the game against a very good basketball team. It was a good test on the road heading into the state tournament.”

The Gladiators, though, weren’t able to generate much offense outside of Santiago. Josh Peeples finished second on the team with 10 points, while Luis Aguiar and Xavier Cartagena rounded out the scoring with six and three points each.

A sluggish second half also hurt Goodwin Tech.

DeJuan Ransom led Wilcox Tech with 19 points.
