Goodwin Tech girls volleyball can't capitalize on early lead, falls to Vinal Tech

NEW BRITAIN - The Goodwin Tech girls volleyball team was in a perfect position to clinch a spot in the Class S state tournament Wednesday night.

In the end, the Gladiators will have to wait until another day.

After taking the first two sets, Goodwin Tech dropped the final three to lose to Vinal Tech at home 3-2. All three of the sets the Gladiators lost were decided by two points. The final set scores were 15-25. 21-25, 25-23, 26-24 and 15-13.

Joa Pino (17 service points, 7 aces, 9 kills). Nathalie DeLarosa (19 service points, 5 kills) and Korina Trammell (16 service points, 4 aces, 4 digs) were the top performers for Goodwin Tech, which is now 7-6 this season.
