BRISTOL - The St. Paul girls volleyball team played its final home match of the season Tuesday and closed out the gym with a 3-2 win over Wolcott.

The Falcons were coming off of two straight 3-2 wins in the previous matches so falling down 2-1 after three sets wasn’t a problem. They won the fourth set 25-17 and the fifth set 15-10 to earn their third consecutive win.

Annie Kretsch (4 kills, 6 aces, 6 blocks) and Greta Panke (6 kills, 6 aces) led the way for St. Paul.

The Falcons’ next match is Thursday on the road at Torrington.

Wilcox Tech 3, Innovation 1: The Ravens showed improvement in their second loss of the season to undefeated Wilcox Tech. After getting swept in their first meeting, the Ravens were able to win a set in Tuesday’s match.

“We’ve been talking about our consistency and we need to be better at that. We didn’t play the way we needed to from the start,” Innovation Coach Matt Lance said.

Patrice Broughton led Innovation with 18 kills and Ashley Paolbizio finished the match with 10 assists.

“We don’t focus on individual performances all that much, especially when we come out on the losing end, but Patrice had one of the best showings we've seen in seven years as a program,” Lance said. “She was great offensively, getting those 18 kills and then she had the three blocks. As a sophomore, she’s shown she has unlimited potential and did against one of the tougher teams on our schedule.”

The Raven’s next match is Friday on the road against Prince Tech.

St. Paul 22, Wolcott 37: The Falcons remain undefeated after today’s race against Wolcott. Freshman Matt Doherty (20:15), Senior Captain Jon Passander (21:09), Jack Galvin (21:16), and Brian Wilson (21:19) led the way with St. Paul’s three best times.

The Falcons will finish their season Nov. 3 on the road against Watertown.
