Roundup: Southington girls volleyball beat Bristol Eastern in decisive fifth set

SOUTHINGTON - Southington girls volleyball beat Bristol Eastern 3-2 Friday night.

Southington took the first set 25-17 before dropping back-to-back sets to Eastern at 25-23 and 25-20. Southington evened it up in the fourth set 25-23 and then took the deciding set 17-15.

Haley Weiner had 32 assists to lead Southington. Adriana Palmieri had 18 digs, a team-high, and Morgan Birdsey had 14 kills, also a team-high. Gabby Ferreira had nine digs with six kills.

For Eastern, Hannah Webber had 27 kills and 11 digs, a volleyball double-double. Abby Jones added 40 assists.

Farmington 3, New Britain 0: New Britain girls volleyball was blanked by Farmington Friday night in a 3-0 final.

Farmington swept the series 25-19, 25-19 and 25-23. New Britain still sits one win away from qualifying for the state tournament, sitting at 7-8.

Wendeley Garcia led the team in digs with 15 and Kasianna Denmark added six service points and five kills.

Goodwin Tech 3, Wilcox Tech 1: Goodwin Tech girls volleyball won 3-1 Friday night over Wilcox Tech.

Wilcox took the first set 26-24 before Goodwin won three straight – 25-23, 25-22 and 25-9 – to lock up the win and improve to 17-2.

Marissa Gonzalez had 16 service points with six aces. Trinity Chambers had 11 service points, six aces, 12 kills, eight assists and six digs for a decorated linescore.

Aerospace 3, Innovation 1: Aeorspace girls volleyball beat Innovation Friday 3-1.

Aeorspace took the first and second sets 25-16 and 25-18 before Innovation won the third set 25-20. Aerospace won the fourth set 25-22.

Tynise Rose tallied six kills with four digs and two aces. Patrice Broughton had four digs, three kills and two blocks.

Gabby Radin tallied seven digs, four kills and four aces.

Boys soccer

Aerospace 3, Innovation 0: Innovation boys soccr was shut out Friday night, losing 3-0 to Aerospace.

Goals came from Caly Estrada and Kevin Rodriguez. Estra scored twice.

In goal, Arnez Falcon had three saves for Innovation and Giancarlo Posadas had six.

Girls soccer

Wolcott Tech 7, Goodwin Tech 1: Goodwin Tech girls soccer lost 7-1 Friday night to Wolcott Tech.

Wolcott had three goals from Kendall Contadini and one goal each from Aaliyah Rovera, Phoenix Fields, Olivia Steeves and Abigail Williams.

Goodwin’s lone score came off the boot of Selyah Aponte. In goal for Goodwin Kiara Bunch and Rivera had two saves.
