The Goodwin Tech girls basketball team started the first quarter against O’Brien Tech strong and never looked back.

Paolo Barbosa scored a game-high 16 points and teammate Alyssa Lugo contributed 14 to help the Gladiators cruise to an easy 45-21 win Tuesday night.

Goodwin Tech scored 17 points in the first quarter and 11 in the second to take a 28-10 lead into the locker room at the half.

Even after the short intermission, the Gladiators continued to shoot well, notching 15 points in the third quarter and finally just two in the fourth with their foot off the pedal.

Lugo hit three three-points, while Joarielys Pino Martinez made two shots from beyond the arc.

O’Brien Tech, meanwhile, never managed to score above six points in any quarter.

Shayla led Goodwin Tech’s opponent with 14 points, but did not receive much help with only seven points total from three other players.
