Sports Roundup: Plainville wrestling falls to Middletown

PLAINVILLE - After starting off the season with a victory in its first meet the Plainville wrestling team was unable to keep the winning going. The Blue Devils lost to Middletown on Tuesday night by a score of 63-18. Middletown moved to 2-0 with the win.

While Plainville struggled as a team there were a couple of individuals who won their matches. Dominic Pedrolini and Benjamin Root both won via forfeit, while Grant Sarra was the only Blue Devil to win his match with a pin and he did so in 5:24.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Innovation 48, Achievement First 29: The Innovation boys basketball team won its season opener by a score of 48-29 over Achievement First. Achievement First actually led after one quarter but the Ravens dominated after that. Jonel Dominique led the way for Innovation as he scored a team-high 12 points, while Leonard Okonya added 11 points of his own.

Goodwin Tech 64, Wolcott Tech 23: Goodwin Tech made easy work of Wolcott Tech as it outscored the Wildcats by 23 in the first half. The Gladiators would go on to win the game by a score of 64-23. Goodwin Tech was led by Francisco Santiago, who had a game high 17 points. Anthony Cruz and Joshlen Peeples were also in double-figures for the Gladitators as they had 13 and 10 points respectively. Goodwin Tech is now 2-0 this season.
