NEW BRITAIN - It was a big day for the Innovation track teams at the Class S Championships on Thursday with several of its runners taking top-10 finishes.
The girls had the most success on the afternoon, placing 16th overall with a score of 10.50. Aidonee Blackstock took fifth place in the 100-merter dash with a time of 12.96. She was followed by her teammate, Ashley Sterling, who placed seventh in the seven with a time of 13.18.
Innovation’s 4x100 meter relay of Sterling, Blackstock, Aynan Walker and Aryanna Townsend earned a sixth-place finish after a 52.43.
Katerina Rodriguez tied for sixth in the high jump with a height of 4-8. She also placed 27th in the triple jump.
Other notable performances were Townsend, who took 12th in the 200-meter dash (27.68); Bailee Nardi, who placed 25th in the long jump with a distance of 14-3; while Morgan Sator was 19th in discus (74-4).
On the boys side, Elijah Pouncey scored their lone point after taking eighth in the long jump with a final distance of 19-4.
The boys track team finished tied for last place, in 38th, with Achievement First.
Dmetri Hunter was the Ravens other top performer. The Innovation senior placed 21st in the 200-meter dash (24.46).
