MILFORD - The Berlin girls soccer team is heading to the Class M quarterfinals.
The Redcoats used seven different scorers as they shut out Platt Tech on the road 7-0 in the second round of the tournament Thursday night.
Jenna Zup, Emma Norton, Julia Sisti, Alana Garofalo, Maxine Muscatello, Ashley Wenzel and Carly Grega all scored a goal for Berlin.
The Redcoats made sure to put the game away early, going into halftime with a 5-0 lead.
“We were able to work on possession and finishing,” Berlin head coach Katie Amenta said. “Those were probably the takeaways from the game.”
Berlin will take on Cromwell in the quarterfinals Saturday at 2 p.m.
East Hampton 4, Innovation 0: The Ravens postseason run has come to an end.
Down just 1-0 at the half, Innovation could not close the gap as East Hampton netted three goals in the second half.
Lianna Giles saved eight of 13 shots for the Ravens, who finish their season 10-6-2.
“Despite the score, the girls played with a lot of toughness today,” Innovation head coach Kathryn Scalia said. “The girls did everything I asked, they were just up against better competition.”
Ridgefield 2, Southington 1: The Southington girls soccer team lost in the second round of the Class LL tournament Thursday afternoon against the No. 7 Ridgefield. The Tigers outscored the Blue Knight’s 2-1. Southington finishes its season 12-2-3.
Southington 3, Staples 0: The Southington girls volleyball team advances to the quarterfinals in the Class LL tournament.
The Blue Knights (17-2) swept the Wreckers 3-0 with set scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 26-24.
Southington will play 10th-seeded Trumbull (15-5) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Greenwich 3, Newington 0: The Indians are out of the Class LL tournament.
Newington ended its season with a 15-8 record after a second-round loss against No. 6 Greenwich.
The Cardinals swept the Indians 3-0 with set scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 26-15.
Greenwich will continue on to quarterfinals and will play No. 3 Ridgefield on Saturday.
