Sports Roundup: Southington girls basketball uses strong second half to beat Plainville

NEW BRITAIN - After a 1-3 start to its season, Southington girls basketball has found its groove.

The Blue Knights won their third straight game over Plainville on Tuesday night 51-43 led by senior Jenna Wadolowski’s 27 points and 15 rebounds.

After just 19 points in the first half as a team and down 24-19, Southington bounced back big in the second with 32 points.

Madison Hulten was second for the Blue Knights in scoring with eight points and Alli Carr added seven points of her own.

For Plainville, Caitlin Barker struggled with 10 points in the game.

Izzy Lozeki led Plainville with 12 points.

Cori Jones and Jaida Vasquez added seven each.

The Blue Knights moved to 4-3 while Plainville dropped to 5-2.


Innovation 32, Parish Hill 29: After a high scoring first half for each team, the second half saw offensive struggles.

There was a total of 17 points scored in the second half and Innovation just held on to win outscoring Parish Hill 6-2 in the final quarter of play and Lenny Okonya had the go-ahead basket with 20 seconds to go in the fourth.

Carlos Gonzalez led Innovation in scoring with 11 points including a trio of threes.

Malcolm Lewis added 10 points for Innovation in its second win of the season.
