To the Editor:
The cities of New Britain and Bristol and their environs lost an excellent physician 10 days ago in a tragic automobile accident.
Since my arrival in New Britain in 1975, I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Dr. Joseph Formica and his son, Dr. Nicholas Formica. Joe was a surgeon of the old school, meticulous in dress and bearing, and was considered one of the best in the area.
Nick trained as a rheumatologist and spent his whole career relieving the pain and suffering of thousands of arthritic patients. Personally, I was impressed by his diagnostic acumen when he cleared up a mystery, diagnosing psoriatic arthritis by finding an almost invisible patch of psoriasis hidded in the patient’s scalp.
All of his colleagues, friends and his patients will miss him.
