To the Editor:

It has been a horrible month in the news, especially with dogs getting abused. Also last week while I was sitting on my front porch, three policemen came walking up the street with shotguns and I asked “should I be worrying about something” and they replied, “I wouldn’t be sitting outside!”

So you can imagine the joy I felt when 10 or more angels descended upon my home from Terryville Congregational Church, sent by the non-profit Rebuilding Together.

Zach, the leader, broke up Allen, Tommy, Wayne, Phil, Cynthia, Kurt, Ray, Jeanie and Rich into small groups and they fixed all the things in my home that I have been unable to do in the last five years, due to being alone, my health, finances and having no help. From yard work to falling fans, replacing my basement ceiling and lighting to hanging mirrors that have been on the floor for five years and much more.

You cannot imagine how grateful and surprised I still am. In the past years I was the one doing all the volunteering and I never thought I would ever be in the opposite place that I am in now. I want to thank Emily and Kathy with Rebuilding Together and Zack and his crew at Terryville Congregational Church and God and let them know that they have restored my faith in mankind.
