To the Editor:

Our Board of Education provides a critical link between the public and our school system. We must elect board members who understand this responsibility - those who are dedicated to improving our school system.

I am confident that Rebecca Martinez is the ideal candidate.

I first met Rebecca when we both volunteered for the Wheeler Building Project Committee. From the beginning, it was clear to me that Rebecca was passionate about improving our schools, not only for her children’s sake but for the sake of all our children. She is truly passionate about investing in our schools.

Rebecca helped lead the charge of that committee with her creativity and dedication. She attended every meeting and event enthusiastically. She was full of inventive ideas to build public support for the Wheeler Building Project.

She utilized many of her connections with other Plainville organizations to increase support for the project.

On vote day, she stood in the rain outside the firehouse for the entire day despite having to work the night shift that evening.

Above anything, Rebecca is a mother committed to education. She advocates for her children regularly and is committed to all children being provided the education they deserve.

Rebecca has been involved in the lives of Plainville children in a variety of ways. She is an active parent at Plainville Early Learning Center. She advocates for the Plainville Family Resource Network and has even walked at our state capitol to ensure continued state funding for this valuable program. She works with the Family Fun Fest.

She is also an officer of the Wheeler PTO.

Rebecca has dedicated her professional life to children as well. As a pediatric nurse, Rebecca goes above and beyond for her patients and their families.

Rebecca’s care and commitment has proven to me that she is the person I want on our Board of Education looking out for my children’s future in the Plainville Schools.
