To the Editor:

In 2015, I was honored to be elected to the Town Council. I have truly enjoyed serving and I am now running for re-election on the Democratic slate.

My reasons for running remain essentially the same. I am passionate about the future of our town.

I believe that we should have high expectations and never think that this is “just Plainville.”

Our citizens deserve up-to date infrastructure, strong public schools, and quality services. These include resources such as a vibrant public library, comprehensive senior programs, and recreational opportunities.

Regarding the latter, I support the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail based on a final design which is collaboratively developed.

With smart planning and budgeting, I believe that we can continue to maintain and grow all that our town offers to individuals, families, and businesses.

I also endorse town efforts to be proactive on specific quality of life matters such as the hard water issue and traffic concerns.

My first term has been a positive learning experience.

I have taken the time to review and research the issues and ask questions that deepen understanding. I support projects, such as the school building improvements, which move Plainville forward. My appointments as liaison to the Committee on Aging and Conservation Commission are responsibilities that I take seriously. I have also worked to be responsive to those who contact me.

Thank you very much for your consideration as we prepare for local elections on Nov. 7.

Rosemary Morante
