To the Editor:
My name is Rebecca Martinez, a Democratic candidate for Board of Education. As a community member and parent of two children at Wheeler, I care very much about the quality of Plainville schools. Our students deserve the best possible programs that allow them to achieve at high levels. As a taxpayer, I also believe that we can accomplish goals in ways that are cost-effective even with current uncertainties regarding state funding. My husband and I moved to Plainville eight years ago and love raising our family in a town with good schools and great resources for children and families. I also believe in contributing time and effort back to the community. I am an officer of the Wheeler PTO and was very actively involved in working for approval of the school building projects in the June referendum. I also served on the Board for the Plainville Early Learning Center and volunteer for activities including Family Fest.
Running for the Board of Education was a big decision. However, I believe that it is also an opportunity to step up and help make a difference in new ways. I ask for your support.
