To the Editor:

I read with interest William Ostapchuk’s recent letter setting forth the historical production of Patton Brook Well and the value of that water.

Using 2013 residential water rates, the value is approximately $1.2 million a year.

That information was presented to the Republican-controlled Common Council last year when it voted to sell the Well (during a drought) to Southington for one million dollars.

The only aldermen on that party line to question the sale without even an appraisal were Jim Sanders, Jr. and Don Naples, and only Sanders crossed party lines and voted against it (along with Emmanuel Sanchez, Carlo Carlozzi and Shirley Black).

Jim Sanders, Jr. is committed to protecting our valuable water resources, and I support his candidacy for alderman-at-large.
