To the Editor:
On Nov. 2, Maestro Ertan Sener, conductor for the New Britain Symphony Orchestra, came to deliver an inspiring talk to the orchestration class I teach at Central Connecticut State University about the upcoming concert on Nov. 5.
His insights into preparing the music with the orchestra were truly enlightening. It is clear that Maestro Sener possesses a rare combination of abilities: he is an extremely talented musician who takes his role as music director very seriously; he has an enthusiasm for both the music he is making and the musicians he makes it with; and he is a passionate advocate for the orchestra and for the performances it gives.
Maestro Sener is a respected member of the musical communities in which he is active in and it was incredibly exciting to witness him engaging with a new audience who came away from his talk with a sense of enthusiasm and pride in their pursuit of creating music in the 21st century.
We are incredibly lucky to have such resources in our community.
