To The Editor:
A few days ago, I heard my smoke alarm chirping. I knew I had put in fresh batteries in when the clocks were changed. I tested them and they were okay.
I called the dispatcher at the fire department and told her of my problem. I really didn’t know what to do. She said she would send someone right away to check.
Sure enough, three firemen were at my door. They checked the alarm and found it was old and defective. They changed it for a new one and also checked my furnace for any leaking carbon monoxide.
I do not know their names but I thanked them several times. They were very nice. Thank you to three firemen. God Bless.
