YOUR VIEW: In Bristol, 'many hands make light work'

To the Editor:

Someone once said “many hands make light work.” That axiom proved to be QUITE true this past Tuesday afternoon. Having been notified that 18,000 gravesite flags were to be dropped off a day EARLY and within MINUTES of the phone call, I found myself in a bit of a predicament. I want to publicly express my sincere appreciation to those who responded to my “cry for help” on a moment’s notice to offload and store all the flags. First to respond(not surprisingly) was former mayor and current chairman of the Veterans Council, Art Ward. Soon after Donna Dognin(Veterans Strong Community Center) with her son Luke, Willie Lavoie and Ron Bourgoin. Additionally to my pleasant surprise, after listening to my “bellyaching” about the situation while cutting my hair, my barber, Mike Stanco(Trim Unlimited) chose to come and help as well. Say what you want about Bristol, but time and again I witness folks reaching out to help. Speaks volumes as to what sort of city we truly are. Again, my sincerest thanks to all those who “pitched in.” God Bless you all!

Tim Gamache

Vice Chairman, Veterans Council
